Of-the-moment yet everlasting, Karen Karch’s sensibility is inspired by contradiction: glamorous & gritty, feminine & masculine, opulent & restrained. Then, filtered through her fashion forward sensibility, additional inspirations include a range of historical influences from Gothic to Victorian. The result is a matchless alternative vision for timeless fine jewelry that both embraces and defies convention.
 The Designer
Challenging her craft for 25 + years, Karen Karch is a design intuitive. She knows what’s next, and even more important, how to translate it to be timeless, desirable, & exactly what her clients will want. True to form, her latest focus begins with yet another contradiction: how to best use cutting edge jewelry technology with her aesthetic of the handmade.
Stretching the boundaries of bridal design, a longtime Karen Karch obsession, today remains a strong focus. Karen Karch was the first to introduce the black diamond engagement ring and an artisanal approach to working with platinum to allow a quality of hand.
After graduating from Parsons School of Design in 1989, the first Karen Karch collection, inspired by New York street style was bold & aggressive. Her pieces translated the energy of its time so well that they caused an immediate sensation. The press took notice and leading stores including Barneys New York and Barneys Japan quickly snapped up her collections.
After 7 years in business, Karen Karch opened her first boutique/ design studio in the New York neighborhood soon to be renamed “Nolita”. Karen Karch immediately attracted a style savvy clientele, and, inspired by their individuality, further developed her signature aesthetic into precious metals, diamonds and gemstones.
Over the years through numerous successful commissions, Karen Karch has become a master at bespoke design. Indulging even her most demanding clients, Karen Karch evolved her aesthetic to be noticeably more detailed and refined while always maintaining that ever important edge.
No fixed schedule dictates the emergence of new designs; they germinate at intervals and come forth when they will. Because Karen Karch jewelry is not a slave to fashion’s seasonal grind, it takes on a nearly inevitable, long-lived air—the unmistakable weight of permanence.

Karch \ Wolfe is a collaboration between fearless dreamers; two kindred spiritsKaren Karch and Deme Wolfe-Power, with El Paso roots and New York gut-stomp. With strong cross-cultural influence from Southwestern iconography, each piece is dreamt up and crafted in their Gramercy Park studio. The collection captures a certain mystical desert punk attitude with symbolism reminiscent of Milagros - intended to conjure strength, protection and healing - and to accompany its wearer wherever their wanderlust may take them.
Karen Karch was born in New York, and raised in El Paso. She  took the NYC jewelry scene head on since returning to attend Parsons in 1987, Karen Karch has a well-earned reputation for pushing the boundaries of conventional design. Her debut collection garnered immediate global recognition, with buyers from influential boutiques  excitedly snapping up her ‘dangerous jewelry’ to be sold to wearers looking to embody the energies of the concrete jungle. Karen’s fascination with marrying grit, darkness and edge to luxurious metals and glamorous settings creates a perfect storm to continuously push the boundaries of convention and tradition.
